Moments with Grace 3 - Depend on God Alone

Hello, everyone! Welcome to Moments with Grace, edition 3. Are you all excited for today's edition? I know I am! So, without further ado, let's dive right in and make the most of this wonderful time together!πŸ˜‡

This edition is titled : Depend on God alone (psalm 62:5)

Grace over to you...πŸ’£

While studying the book of Chronicles I was perplexed about the story of king Asa and how his reign as king started well but plummeted due to distractions and  human trustπŸ˜“. His health also deteriorated because of his total dependence on medicine other than God as  seen in the text below:

At that time Hanani the seer came to King Asa and told him, “Because you have put your trust in the king of Aram instead of in the Lord your God, you missed your chance to destroy the army of the king of Aram. Don’t you remember what happened to the Ethiopians and Libyans and their vast army, with all of their chariots and charioteers? At that time you relied on the Lord, and he handed them over to you. The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. What a fool you have been! From now on you will be at war.” Asa became so angry with Hanani for saying this that he threw him into prison and put him in stocks. At that time Asa also began to oppress some of his people. In the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa developed a serious foot disease. Yet even with the severity of his disease, he did not seek the Lord’s help but turned only to his physicians. So he died in the forty-first year of his reign.” ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭16‬:‭7‬-‭10‬, ‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The Word of God is very practical for our everyday lives hence God desires that we totally depend on Him and not on anyone or anything.

The word of God says: “I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭62‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭20‬:‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I don’t know what challenge you are going through at the moment, but I would like to tell you that God desires you to invite him into the matter and see him fight those battles for you.

To those who are suffering with one ailment or the other, I pray that the word of God in Isaiah 53:5 becomes real to you in Jesus name:

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Remember, the creator of all things is behind the wisdom of medicine hence the need to consult him to bless the medication you are taking rather than solely depending on  it for your healing.

Another important thing we need to do as God’s children is to always enquire of the Lord before taking decisions in our lives whether it pertains to jobs, family, spiritual or social  matters. This will save us from making mistakes that can cost our time, resources and even our lives. For example David enquired of the Lord before going for battles and God always granted him victory and so did Jehoshaphat as seen in this scripture :

Then Jehoshaphat added, “But first let’s find out what the Lord says.” 2 Chronicles‬ ‭18‬:‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Because Jehoshaphat enquired of the Lord, his life was spared but the life of Ahab the rebellious king was destroyed.(1 kings 22:1-38)

My deepest prayer is that we remain consistent with the Lord, yearning to be guided by Him and willing to obediently do as he pleases. When God corrects us, may we realign back to his will and not rebel because God chastises those He loves(Hebrews 12:6).

We need to trust God alone with our lives knowing that if He doesn’t come through for us, no one else can. Moreover, we can be rest assured that He will never leave us nor forsake us, and just like He delivered Daniel from the Lions den, the Hebrew boys from the fire, healed the woman with the issue of blood, raised Lazarus from the dead, divided the Red Sea and saved the children of Israel, and many others. Hallelujah!!!

Jesus is still doing great and mighty things today you just believe!
