Moments with Grace 4 - True Wisdom

Hello Fam,

I hope we are doing great. How was the month of August?

We are glad to have Grace in the house again. Today, she will be talking about True Wisdom.

***

When we think of the book of Job, I believe our minds immediately goes to the suffering Job passed through and the reward of his faithfulness to God. However, I would like to also highlight the verses of scripture that expounded on how true wisdom displayed by Job can be activated.

“People know how to tear apart flinty rocks and overturn the roots of mountains. They cut tunnels in the rocks and uncover precious stones. They dam up the trickling streams and bring to light the hidden treasures. “But do people know where to find wisdom? Where can they find understanding? No one knows where to find it, for it is not found among the living. ‘It is not here,’ says the ocean. ‘Nor is it here,’ says the sea. It cannot be bought with gold. It cannot be purchased with silver. It’s worth more than all the gold of Ophir, greater than precious onyx or lapis lazuli. Wisdom is more valuable than gold and crystal. It cannot be purchased with jewels mounted in fine gold. Coral and jasper are worthless in trying to get it. The price of wisdom is far above rubies. Precious peridot from Ethiopia cannot be exchanged for it. It’s worth more than the purest gold. “But do people know where to find wisdom? Where can they find understanding? It is hidden from the eyes of all humanity. Even the sharp-eyed birds in the sky cannot discover it. Destruction and Death say, ‘We’ve heard only rumors of where wisdom can be found.’ “God alone understands the way to wisdom; he knows where it can be found, for he looks throughout the whole earth and sees everything under the heavens. He decided how hard the winds should blow and how much rain should fall. He made the laws for the rain and laid out a path for the lightning. Then he saw wisdom and evaluated it. He set it in place and examined it thoroughly. And this is what he says to all humanity: ‘The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.’” Job 28:9-28 NLT

As defined by our text in Job 28:28 True wisdom is the fear of the Lord.

Human beings can be very devoted when it comes to pursuing things of this life whether scientific discoveries or desires for growth and development with respect to material gains, but our text today highlights the fact that what is most valuable in life is True Wisdom because in it lies eternal value. This true wisdom stems from the fear of the Lord.

One could ask so what does it mean to fear God?

According to the scriptures below, to fear God is to reference, adore, obey, and glorify Him not just because of the fear of judgement but because of his goodness and wonders: “Let the whole world fear the Lord, and let everyone stand in awe of him.” Psalms 33:8 NLT

“Fear God,” he shouted. “Give glory to him. For the time has come when he will sit as judge. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all the springs of water.” Revelation 14:7 NLT

“Don’t lay a hand on the boy!” the angel said. “Do not hurt him in any way, for now I know that you truly fear God. You have not withheld from me even your son, your only son.” Genesis 22:12 NLT

To be ambitious and excellent in our daily dealings is important however, our desire to achieve greatness and success in diverse spheres of life should be ultimately for the glory of God. For example, the Bible says: “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” Matthew 6:19-21 NLT.

The Lord Jesus enjoins us to “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give us everything we need.” Matthew 6:33 NLT….This is true wisdom indeed.

I pray that the Lord will help us to put God first in all our dealings, fear him and shun all forms of evil. May this wisdom be glaring in all we do.

Love and blessings!

Grace

"Two important takeaways for me are wisdom is the fear of the Lord, and the reminder that everything we do is to glorify God." I pray that the month of September brings us closer to our deepest desires. Cheers to a beautiful month ahead!
