Meet Tunde Olugbayila aka TD

Fondly called M4DK or Kekeluke, Tunde Olugbayila (TD) is a music minister, recording artiste, writer among many other things; he pioneered the music outfit, Music 4 Da King (M4DK) from where he got the name. M4DK also has a function band, which performs at corporate and social engagements.

Having been in music circle for over two decades, from the days of the ‘soprano boy” as the youngest person in the church adult choir, to when his voice drastically switched to baritone after a long illness, he later pushed himself to the tenor range. The name TD stuck on him from his university days when he served as a technical director for the choir for a long period and since it’s in line with Tunde, the name TD stayed.

A very energetic and expressive vocalist, he once got a scholarship award during his secondary school days  for great singing and later went on to learn more on  facial expression, stage management, body language which made him to be a great delight and artiste on stage.  It is also in view of this that he went into choral conducting, with emphasis on contemporary conducting and importing classical conducting skills into contemporary music.

In the year 2003, he was awarded Choir Conductor of the year at LAUTECH Ogbomoso, from where he bagged a B. Tech degree in Animal Production and Health. He wrote a few unpublished works on conducting and stage management then. He had earlier tried his hand on the piano and organ; however he remains more of a singer.

He began composing at the age of four and has his late mom (a strong tenor) as his first vocal coach. Music came naturally as he was born to a family of singers. He recalled the first amateur recording he had with his sisters at a tender age. He was also surrounded with influence of older cousins and relatives among whom are Evang Funmi Aragbaiye, Bolaji Olarewaju (Big B), Muyiwa Olarewaju (Riversongs and Turning Point International), Bukky Agboola among others.

In year 2012, he released a promotional mini album titled Kekeluke and on the 20th of April, 2014, he released a full album titled ‘These Things…This God!’  The album is a combination of different genres and colors talking about a range of subjects with the central theme being God. His songs has their signature; deep lyrics, word play, a contemporary African touch and among others.  From the school of thought he belongs to, he often times switches his tone color from ‘soft smooth’, ‘large’ to ‘forced’ depending on the song mood.

He has a strong passion for evangelism and discipleship and to him that is an integral part of worship. His passion is that people will come to the knowledge of Father and of His Christ by the ministry of The Holy Spirit through him.  He will be releasing a book by mid –year, 2014.

He is happily married to Oluyomi, whom he calls ‘my Poniwa’ and they are blessed with a charming boy Toluwanimi. Together they worship at Harvest House Christian Church, where he serves in the Music/Worship Department.
