Taking Risks

Image
Taking Risks So many times we shy away from taking risks but the truth remains that the things we fear will happen,  do not  always  happen at the end of the day.  Practically everything we do in life has to do with taking risks. The four lepers outside the city of Samaria took a risk of going to the enemies’ camp rather than staying back at the gates of Samaria and starving to death. That one decision saved the whole of Samaria. Ruth did the same, refusing to stay back in the house and wallow in self-pity. She chose to get a livelihood so she could be of help to her mother in-law and her-self. Leaving her home town to tag along with her mother in-law to hers’ was also a risk in the first place. What if she wasn’t welcomed there? She didn’t mind all that could have happened, she went anyway risking it. Esther wasn’t left out either. She took the risk of going before the king without an invitation from him, defying the laws of the land which ...

The Busy-Me-Syndrome

Image
The Busy-Me-Syndrome!!!   I have been so crazily busy over the past month that at the moment I’m so aching for a vacation *soon I hope*. So many things to do; it takes wisdom to balance it all up.  Thank God for his help though.       You know it’s so easy to get busy doing things that your life just keeps slipping away from your hands without you knowing. You barely remember the time,  the day,  the date, friend’s birthdays and other details, even God and the Bible gets little of your attention. But it’s up to you to get your life back on track or keep a check on how busy you get. No matter how busy you get, you shouldn’t let your life and plans glide off your hands. If you do, you might just awaken to the awareness that you’ve been standing at the same position for months; everything around has changed except you. You discover that friends and loved ones have moved on, new ministers have been appointed in your State, babies have b...

Happy Fathers Day!!!

Image
As a dad His arrival to the home changed a lot, it changed the atmosphere and filled the home with laughter I watched him crawl Saw him struggle to take his first steps Heard him call me “Papa” I saw him imitate my every move, a caution to me Then suddenly he grew, from toddler to teen, from teen to teenager and from teenager to adult I look at him today and I’m amazed at whom he has become Not a perfect replica of me but rather a better replica of me I will introduce him to you in a jiffy but let me just tell you a little about him Well, as a proud dad I tell you about my son today He is talented handsome fella From his birth I could tell he was born for greatness He stands amongst his peers but even while standing, he’s so distinct He’s the best of his equals, the smartest of them all He speaks like every one of his colleagues but his words are like golden apples on a silver tray, spoken at the right time and in the right circumstances. ...

Who is God to you?

Image
As I said last time I heard of a little girl who wrote to God. She wrote: Dear Lord, My Sunday school teachers have being teaching me about all the good things you do but I want to ask you a question, who does all these when you are on vacation?   Well this kind of gingered me to ask the kids I met who God was. I wanted to capture their views and understanding on whom God is. So here we go; and you are not permitted to laugh oh…*wink* Kishi a 2 year old said God is my Father in heaven. Tolu a 4 year old said God is Jesus. Demi a 3 year old also said God is his father in heaven Ife a 4 year old also said God is Jesus Firekanmi a 3 year old said God is God Morife a 5 year old said God is a powerful person that lives up the sky. Eve an 8 year old said God is the one who created the Heavens and Earth and he is the son of God. Emmanuela a 9year old said God is my creator, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords ...

Happy Children's Day!!!!

Image
Dad and mum, from the way you take care of me I have seen that you understand I have a destiny to fulfill. So I want to thank you for raising me as a model, for making me stand out among my peers and thank you for not sparing the rod but rather empowering me with all you've got. Truth be said I can be annoying and so naughty sometimes And so good at messing things up, pulling things down and throwing vital things away or pouring water on them *smiles* Sometimes in my bid to help you and to show you I love you, I end up creating a scene, like me writing I love you on dads new car or mummy’s new hand bag with a pen. It's not because I just started using a pen, no! It’s for you to know I love you and also to prevent anything from coming in between you and me, neither daddy’s car nor mummy’s bag. I know all the funny things I do but all these are a gradual process of me getting to know who I am. So I ask you not to give up on me. Gradually & steadily all the p...
