Life na jeje

My friend set out on a trip from Ibadan to Abuja. But as they boarded, they were informed the aircraft will make a detour to Ilorin, to drop off some passengers then head for Abuja. It sounded okay since they will be heading for Abuja as planned but little did they know that things will turn out differently.  *This taught a major lesson - Only GOD knows how each day will end, that is why it is paramount that we trust Him and involve Him in our day to day plans ....back to the story They arrived the airport at Ilorin by 1:15 in the afternoon, waited on board the plane for over 30 mins, after which they were asked to disembark....  *For what???", I can imagine my friend saying* Well, they disembarked and that was how the waiting began....... ....and that takes me to "Waiting"  Waiting is not always easy..whether waiting on a queue or a job, a child, a promotion, an estranged partner or a partner at all, none is easy. *Everyone in life goes ...

Face Your Dragon

Image
The week had been so busy, so many tasks were coming in from here and there and I felt like hiding in a hole and screaming out loud. But I found no hole that could fit my size...lol.  Anyway, while I was trying to figure out, how to get a balance, Blessing walked in, and with her sweet voice she said, "Can you spare me some minutes, I want to read something I wrote for a contest and I will like you to listen to me and also time me as I read". "Certainly", I said  And as she read on, I marveled at the extent to which the content of the piece spoke to me. It was timely and apt for the situation I was in at that moment. After she was done, I quickly asked for the permission to share it here with you all. So here it is....... Face Your Dragon What is that task that you are afraid of like a child is afraid of a dragon? For me, it has been visiting a dentist. In fact, the dentist was the dragon and his instruments, fangs that ...

Valentine Special with Mrs. Oshoforowa

Image
Happy Valentine’s Day! Today, we have in the house with us:  Mrs Oshofowora aka TUSKY, the author of the book  BEDMATICS; an amazing wife and mother who is full of grace and wisdom. She is totally committed to building relationships by the Word. Here is what she has to say to us this Valentine’s Day: Never allow your relationship to be that of an emotionally starved partnership, a romantically malnourished relationship which waits for Valentine to exhibit gluttonous love.  Love should be shown daily. For the singles Furthermore, ladies really need to adjust the idea that many of us have which is the fact that it is the genetic and eternal responsibility of a man alone to show love and be romantic. Every man deserves a treat too, love is about two people. In fact both of you should be competing about who is going to surprise or trip the other most. You as a lady should not be a lake in your relationship who keeps receivin...

Kindness matters

As I made my way to the office this morning, there was slight hold up on the way and the gentleman that drove was awesomely harsh...not that he was driving roughly but he just did not allow or permit other drivers to veer into his lane, no matter how much they pleaded. He was practically manoeuvring and pushing aside those who stubbornly tried to force their way in. As I watched him do that to several cars, the only thought that came to mind was “I pray this man will not need help ahead”. ‘Cos I imagined if the lane we were on got stuck and he had to plead to move into another lane; will anyone be willing to help? What if, coincidentally, the car on the next lane happened to belong to one of the men he refused to assist....lol.....only then will he understand the gravity of his actions and grasp the saying that "first to do, no dey pain, na second to do dey pain"....shines teeth.  Lessons Learnt: *Life is to be lived with wisdom and caution because only...

Gratitude

Spending time with them nieces and nephews has given me so many reasons to laugh. Some days back, Jem who had taken lots of sweets for the day and had been warned by her mum that there was no more sweets for the day, walked up to me saying, "aunty Tope, my mouth is asking me to take another sweet". I said "Your mouth, tell your mouth no oh, or else". OMG! I laughed so hard. Well, after lunch today, my bigsis and I were seated in the room, when little Dave walked in: Dave: Mummy, I want my reeeee pot Bigsis: Your what? Dave: My reeeee pot na, I want to show mummy Princess ....I decided to join in the conversation Me: Your report? Bigsis: Oh, your report card And Dave goes: Noooooo, my reeeee pot While we were trying to decipher what dear Dave was saying, Bigsis told him to go call his sister Jem, who apparently was the decoder of little Dave's grammar. Jem who was engrossed with the cartoon she was watching, was not...

Life

While dad was working at the bank, there was a certain man who supplied the bankers with beef. He kept at it for many years and I cannot remember dad and mum ever complaining about his supplies. Lesson 1: Be the best at what you do; harness your skills with every given opportunity. Strive to be the best you can be. Back to the story.... Years later, I walked into the bank and right there behind the counter sat this same man. He was now a cashier at the same bank. He went from supplying meat to the bankers to being a banker. Lesson 2: -       Sometimes we get tired of doing the same thing over and over again but don't give up, just keep at it because opportunities abound everywhere. We only have to look intently to see and grab them with both hands. This man saw an opportunity and he seized it. -       To move from one phase to another, you need to make sacrifices. I can imagine what it must have ca...

Saying YES

Image
I was the best at saying ‘No’ to things that seemed way bigger than me. You would always have a “Yes” from me, if it was something I considered I could do after, weighing and measuring it up against my strength, until I realized I was denying myself of the opportunity to grow. Sometimes, saying NO is not wrong, but when I considered my reasons for saying NO which were: -       Acting out of fear -       Measuring those tasks against my strength I was so wrong and to worsen it ...those two things are known for putting GOD off. The result: -   I was not learning and therefore I plateaued -   I had no idea what I was capable of doing because I kept doing the usual -   I had no idea what GOD could do through me A quick scenario.... Some years back, I stepped into my office and my coordinator motioned to me to come. When I got to his desk, he looked at me and said “You have been ass...
