SPICING UP YOUR RELATIONSHIP

“Your relationship is as good as what you invest in it”

I was in the kitchen one evening with my aunt while she was preparing a meal for the family. As I watched her, I noticed she added a lot of ingredients to the meal. I couldn’t help but ask why? She smiled and said “Spices give aroma and make food delicious”. As she said that, it hit me that it’s so vital to spice things up in our lives to make our lives more meaningful and colorful.

I tasted the meal, hmmm! It made sense and I must say very delicious; the look and color of the fried rice was so appealing and pleasing to the eyes. I couldn’t resist the meal; the aroma took away my breath and the taste.…. my oh my it brought me back to life. Ever since, I always look forward to meals with spices especially the right spices. Sometimes having spices is not as important as knowing “what to add” and “when to add” and “the amount to add”. If you add too much you make it too spicy and if you add too little you tend to make it bland.
Well, remember we are not trying to spice our meal here but our relationship. So tell me, what’s the current taste of your relationship like? If you are not satisfied with the way things are presently, do you know what to do to make it more tasteful (healthy)? Do you have what it takes to spice it up?

Love is not the only ingredient you need in a relationship. The success of any relationship begins with two people who are willing to make it work. It is easy to start a relationship but sustaining a great relationship requires effort. A successful relationship is not a product of how you both feel about each other; but about what you know about each other and do for each other. It’s important for you to know what works in a relationship before starting a relationship. No romantic relationship thrives without basic knowledge of what works. What you know will save you from unnecessary stress in your relationship.

To spice up your relationship, you need KNOWLEDGE. Knowledge is as important as love is. Many people fall in love without understanding their partner. A relationship becomes complex when the people involved lack the knowledge and the skill(s) needed to build the relationship. An effective and successful relationship is evident between two singles that have the knowledge of who they are and what they have.

It is important you know how to manage a relationship before you start a relationship. Love is crucial in a relationship, but the absence of knowledge is risky. Many relationships perish for lack of knowledge or let me put it this way; many relationships are tasteless for lack of knowledge.

IMPACT is another SPICE you must bring into your relationship. In a relationship where there is nothing to offer then the people therein will suffer…. smiles. It is crucial to know what you can offer in a relationship; many people fail to offer something in their relationships. You can only grow when you are being fed. Bringing out the best in each other is like a plus. Staying with someone who cannot increase your value and worth drains you out.

Another way to spice up your relationship is to HANG-OUT with each other. Growing up together requires quality time. Staying in a boring relationship is like staying in an empty room. You must know where to go, what movies to see; visit friends and attend concerts together. If you are too busy to give your partner quality time, then I think it’s time you check out of that relationship. A romantic relationship is between two people who are willing to share their time together.

The best way to spice up your relationship is to know what is missing, what is wrong, what you need to improve on and what you need to start doing rightly.
